Mr. Merritt's background includes consulting work done for many levels of government, including Federal State City and County. After a brief stint working towards a degree in Archaeology, he switched majors to Education with a minor in History, and eventually became a First and Second grade teacher for a private school in Portage Indiana.  While working towards a Masters degree, he began work for a contractor that was consulting for Indiana Bell Telephone in Indianapolis Indiana. This experience led to many adventures and travels but GIS was always a mainstay, eventually leading to a 5 year job with the Indianapolis Department of Transportation and employment with two major GIS Consulting firms before accepting the position of GIS Department Manager of Clinton County Ohio in 1999, where he continues to serve to this day.
