In Orange County (FL) a tragedy involving a 4 year old hit by a vehicle crashing into a day care center caused an immediate review of all similar facilities to determine if they were in high risk traffic areas. GIS was utilized to determine proximity to busy roads, higher speed limits, etc. This in depth analysis led to legislative action requiring the installation of Safety Barriers.See how Baltimore County (MD) used ArcGIS Model Builder to help determine if the County was in compliance with eh American with Disabilities Act (AD). With over 2400 miles of sidewalks, manually collecting detailed compliance information would be costly and time-consuming. Learn how the County used GIS to identify and evaluate areas that were in compliance or required remediation.
