Modeling and Disaster Response Mitigation, Modeling and Mapping…OH MY! - AICP/CM Approved 1.5

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Come learn about mitigation and how GIS is playing an important role in helping to build more resilient communities.  We will explore new tools for mapping flood inundation from dams and levees breaches to modeling for flood, wind, and earthquakes. Then we will see how innovative geospatial tools were used during response and recovery efforts of a major flooding event in Baton Rouge. Finally, we will learn of strategies for incentivizing all stakeholders – homeowners, businesses, utilities, insurers, government, and others – to take actions to mitigate risk and how the GIS community can contribute to the communication and tracking of those strategies.

Attendance at this session will offer: 1.5 AICP credits
