Charles 'cob' Bailey, GISS, AESA

cob is a native Georgian with degrees in computer science, forest resources, and applied spatial analysis. He has worked for the Georgia Forestry Commission in various capacities since 1995. Currently he serves as GIS coordinator for the agency as well as lead GIS Specialist for Georgia’s Type 2 Incident Management Team. He is also a qualified GISS at the national level and has worked with several Type 1 incident teams throughout the U.S. He currently serves as vice-chair for the Southern Group of State Foresters’ GIS Committee.
His most recent pursuits and projects include developing custom hybrid GIS solutions for GFC field use, utilizing remote sensing analysis to determine forest cover extent and disturbance, and serving on his first deployment as Infrared Interpreter (IRIN) under the national Incident Command System (ICS). He is currently working on a series of custom configurations for connective desktop/mobile applications for use within the agency.
cob is involved with the Elachee Nature and Science Center in northeast Georgia where he serves on the Advisory Board and the Forest Ecosystem Integrity Group. He is also an active member of the Southern Off-Road Bicycle Association (SORBA), and is an aficionado and collector of the retro-bikes he rode out west in the grand old 1990's!
