Alyssa Randall

Planning Communities, LLC
GIS Analyst & Environmental Scientist
Raleigh, NC
You might know her for her maps, but also for her raps. By day she’s a GIS environmental mapper, and by night a peer-reviewed scientific rapper. Alyssa's research areas of interest include conservation GIS, environmental modeling, coastal management, geostatistics, satellite image processing, climate change vulnerability and environmental impact analysis. Her strong GIS background has allowed her to work on a number of exciting projects such as modeling species, analyzing hydrologic resources, and studying the perception of sea level rise and literacy. Alyssa has completed maps and analyses for the NC Wildlife Resource Commission, NCDOT, the NC Coastal Reserve, NC Department of Coastal Management, East Carolina University, the Bald Head Island Conservancy, NC Audubon, and the University of North Carolina Wilmington. She has been recognized for her work in GIS at the NC GIS Conference and by the NC ArcGIS Users Group. She also has extensive experience as an environmental educator and has received multiple STEM fellowships through both the North Carolina Space Grant and Duke Energy Progress.
